Dr. Stephanie Bassin

Born and bred in the shadows of Washington D.C., Stephanie's interest in sports started at an early age. In her bedroom community of Bethesda, Maryland, she participated in
gymnastics, spent endless hours on her backyard trampoline, was on swim teams, played softball and body-surfed on the Atlantic coast. As a busy dentist and a mother of two girls, she juggled family, work, and exercise. Eventually, commitments and other issues led her to stop working out for more than 5 years.
In 2009 Stephanie had some lofty goal. Mainly to qualify for nationals at three distances (sprint, Olympic and 70.3). She ended up exceeding them by qualifying for two World Championships. As if that wasn't enough, she posted a 4 hours 57 podium finish at Clearwater 70.3 World Championships, and a top 20 at World Championships Gold Coast Australia, racing for Team USA. She was also named USAT Triathlon ALL-American or the second consecutive year.

In 2008 Stephanie aged up to the big five-0 and won nearly everything she entered, qualified for nationals in Portland and set a goal to be named All-American. She started the season with huge wins at Playtri, Galveston 70.3, The Woodlands and Austin Captextri. Entering Buffalo Springs 70.3 with much confidence, Stephanie placed third with a 5:36 PR in an international field, narrowly missing a world's qualifying spot for Hawaii and Clearwater. 2008 ended with all goals meet. Stephanie qualified for World Championships at the Olympic distance, was named a member of Team USA for 2009, and will soon be recognized as "All American".

In '07, Stephanie won her age group or better in 11 of 13 events, with a few top 3 overalls! Her highlights included a 2nd overall at Arkadelphia and 2nd overall ($ 200 cash!!) at Four States and a dominating age group victory at Galveston. Steph consistently registered top 3 bike splits of all women, many half her age! Her year ended with an improved Turkey Trot and a strong finish at the W.R. 13.1. She narrowly missed All-American honorable mention for the 07 season.

Since the summer of '06, Stephanie has displayed the natural athleticism that she had developed in her 20's. With raw talent, an incredible work ethic and the heart of a champion, Stephanie placed in the top five in all of her sprint triathlons in 2006. Her
bike and swim splits have often been #1 for overall women. She spent the winter of '06 "getting stronger and working on her run" in preparation for racing sprints and Olympic distance in '07.

She is undoubtedly the spirited glue that holds together the members of the Brian Loncar Racing Team.
