Abby Cox
Abby Cox grew up in Lubbock, TX, where she spent most of her
growing up years as a competitive swimmer. After graduating
from Lubbock High, Abby accepted a scholarship to swim at
Ohio University, and graduated with a Bachelors degree in
Communication in 2003. Swimming was always Abby’s #1
sport, but she always had a love for running, too. Immediately
upon finishing her swimming career, Abby began to train for a
marathon. For college graduation she asked her parents for a
bike because she knew she wanted to try her hand at triathlons
some day, too.

The first athletic endeavor on her list was to complete a
marathon; so she completed the Dallas White Rock Marathon in
2003 and qualified for Boston. Abby has also completed the
Cincinnati and Columbus marathons. All while training and
competing in marathons Abby was a certified as a Spinning
instructor and built some good cycling muscles. She completed
her first triathlon, an Olympic distance, in 2004, ending up 3rd in
her age group. In 2005 Abby moved to Grapevine, TX and one
month later completed her second triathlon finishing 2nd in her
age group and qualifying for Age Group Nationals. Since then,
Abby has continued to stay active in running, cycling, and
swimming. She completed her fist half Ironman in 2007, and
hopes to do a full someday.

Abby resides in Grapevine, TX with her supportive husband,
Steve. She earned her Master’s degree in Public Health from the
University of North Texas Health Science Center, and works is a
Health Education Consultant for CIGNA Healthcare.
