Ann Dannis

Ann Dannis was born in San Fernando, California but raised in
good ol' Texas. She was a tomboy from day one and loved
to compete athletically. After attending Texas Tech University
she started running again, but moved into a modeling career in
Denver, Colorado. She moved back to Dallas in 1982 to work
for the Kim Dawson agency. That is when she met Chuck Dannis
(chairman of the Wellstone White Rock Marathon) who told her
,if she would do a marathon,he would take her to Hawaii. Her
first marathon was Honolulu which she completed in 3:36.
Trying to qualify for Boston in her second marathon at Galveston
she won overall woman.
In 1982 Ann was inspired her to do her first triathlon after
watching her husband Chuck at the Hawaiian Ironman , the year
Julie Moss crawled to the finish line.
Her first triathlon was Presidents at Las Colinas where Lance
Armstrong age 16 and was first recognized. She won her age
group which encouraged her to "pick up" the sport. The late
Jerry Heidenreich (Ashley MacCurdy's uncle & 5 time
Olympic medalist) helped her in swimming. Scott Eder gave her
"Profile" aero bars for her bike (hand-me-downs from Lance
Armstrong) and she was off and running. Now at age 56 her
favorite triathlon was Alcatraz Triathlon which she set an
age-group record at 53 years of age. At 54 she won her age
group at New York and the next year, first place in Chicago at
the world's largest triathlon. At 55 she won her age group in the
Los Angeles Triathlon, with 8 foot waves! Her favorite place to
compete is Dallas, Texas on the BRIAN LONCAR TEAM.
