Scott Eder

A Dallasite for more than 40 years, Scott has run and biked on
almost every inch of Dallas and Collin Counties.
Growing up with a team sports background, Scott became
focused on running after an accomplished collegiate baseball
and basketball career as an Austin College Kangaroo.
After over-training and running his first marathon in 1981, Scott
suffered a stress fracture that led him to pursue cycling and
swimming. Eventually, under the mentorship of Olympian and
Pro Triathlete Marc Thompson he learned to swim and returned
to running and went on to participate in his first multi-sport
event, the Waco triathlon in 1982.
In 1984 Scott became one of the first Texan's (along with
teammate Steve Mudgett) to qualify for and complete the
prestigious Hawaiian Ironman Triathlon. From 1982 to 1995
Scott completed 17 marathons, 3 Ironman's and over 150
triathlon races on several continents.
While consistently racing at the Olympic distance, Scott qualified
for 8 consecutive age group National Championships at Bass
Lake, Wilkes Barre and Hilton Head. Scott has run six sub 3 hour
marathons including The Boston Marathon and a 2:47 PR at The
Houston Marathon. His best 10 k was 34:20 way back in the
80's. His top Olympic Tri finish was a 2:09 at Hilton Head back at
nationals in the late 80’s.
In 1995 Scott was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia (Atrial
Fibrillation). After 6 years of beta-blockers and blood thinners,
the third and final ablation surgery finally stopped the
arrhythmia. After "just swimming a little for years", using
Stephanie's motivation and Dusan's inspiration, Scott was moved
to once again start training for triathlons. That all lead to the
formation of The Brian Loncar Racing Team.
2010 will be his 28th anniversary in the sport and should be the
year he finishes his 200 th triathlon! Scott has been riding all
winter and is preparing for 2010. After starting with an Olympic
distance race in Galveston he will settle down into a fury of
sprints and a few Olympic events in and around our region.
2009 was a slight improvement from 2008. The old bad hip was
working ok and the run splits got a little faster. 2008 was a fun
but uneventfully on the competitive front as he finished 11 races
generally slower than in 2007 due to a multitude of leg and hip
maladies.
2007 was the first time in 11 years that Scott is back as a
participant. 2007 was a mild success highlighted with a few top
three sprint age-group awards, an aqua bike win at Playtri, even
medaling in a few Olympic races, and finishing the 20k with
Brian.
