Amari Holmes

Amari Holmes was born and raised in the Lake Highlands
neighborhood of Dallas, Texas. She grew up as a competitive
gymnast, cheerleader, and dancer. In 2000, while making a
tumbling pass in a cheerleading competition, Amari broke
portions of her tibia and femur and shattered her knee cap.
While rehabbing the injury on a road bike, Amari developed a
love for cycling.
In 2007 Amari and her husband, Justin, decided to take on an
activity they could train for together. In September, Amari went
straight for the Olympic distance, taking 1st place in the 25-29
age group at her first race.
2008 brought Amari's first full season of triathlon, it instantly
developed her love for the competition and community of
triathlon. She grabbed a podium place in every local race she
entered that year.
2009 didn't disappointment either. It brought Amari two overall
female titles in local races and 1st in age group in multiple other
local races, finishing no lower than 5th in her age group in
regional racing. She competed in the 2009 Age Group National
Championships in Tuscaloosa, qualifying for the 2010 Age Group
World Championships. Amari finished 2nd in the 25-29 age
division in the South Midwest Region and 7th overall female in
the region. In 2 short years of racing, Amari has placed in 10 out
the 14 races she has entered.
She plans to compete at the Half Ironman distance for the first
time in April in New Orleans. Her goals for the 2010 season
involve qualifying for world's in both the Olympic and Half
Ironman distances. Amari is thrilled to be apart of, and racing
with, the Brian Loncar Racing Team!
