Tyler Johnson
2010 marks Tyler's third year on Team Loncar. 2009 was a memorable year for Tyler. For 2009, his main focus was on half iron distance racing. Tyler started the year out with a 4:21 at Lonestar half iron distance in Galveston, TX where he won his age group. Next was the Kansas 70.3 where he clocked a 4:24 half iron time and earned a spot to the 70.3 World Championships held in Clearwater, FL. At the 70.3 World Championships Tyler placed 10th in his age group with a 4:09. Tyler was also the SMW Region Sprint Champion for 2009.

Tyler began his athletic career as a basketball player who was
persuaded by a coach to run on the cross country team in high
school. After realizing his potential in running, he pursued the
sport in college, attending Southern Arkansas University to run XC/track. While at SAU, he broke the school record in the 10,000 meters, and was named to the All Gulf South Conference Team twice. Like most collegiate athletes, he took some time off after graduating. This break was short lived, though, and when missing the competition he decided to race in his first triathlon in fall of 2004, Stonebridge Ranch Sprint, where he rode a $20 Schwinn that he found at a garage sale. Although his chain fell off 3 times, he still ran the fastest run spit and claimed an age group medal. After jumping into triathlon full force, and up-grading his bike, he has been the overall champion in several races. In the midst of his triathlon training, he also managed to clock a 2:41 marathon in his first attempt at the distance in 2006.

Tyler's goals for 2010 are to place well at Lonestar 70.3, Buffalo Springs 70.3, Long Course Duathlon Nationals and to complete Ironman Arizona - Tyler DNF'd this race in April 2008.

Away from Triathlons, Tyler enjoys spending time with his wife and teammate, Ashley Johnson, spending time with his family & friends, hearing/watching music, MAVS basketball & home improvements.

Tyler earned his B.B.A. with an emphasis in Finance from Southern Arkansas University. He works in the mortgage industry as a Sr. REO Asset Manager.
