Nicholas Luft
For Nick, last season was a bit disappointing, but definitely
motivating.  He raced his first half ironman at Lone Star and
finished in 4:36 with a 4 minute penalty (his first ever
penalty).  At River Cities Triathlon he finished 12th overall.
When the Disco Sprint Triathlon changed to a duathlon and he
took first place overall.  I started triathlons in 2005 based off 3
months of "blind" training.  He promised to his grandpa before
he had brain surgery that he would qualify for the 2005 World
Age Group Championships in Hawaii.  It was there in Hawaii
where he raced his first Olympic Distance triathlon finishing with
a time of 2:12:35.

Now Nick is in school to finish up his degree in psychology at
the University of North Texas while working on an accounting
degree.  He moved to Texas in August of 2006 with his family.
He felt Texas provided more opportunities with triathlon racing,
academics, and a career.  He love Kansas City, but is Nebraska
Cornhusker at heart.  He has "traveled the rough road for school
and sports", but he remains a firm believer that things happen
for a reason!

Future plans...get his bachelor's degree in psychology.  Turning
pro for triathlon is a goal within the next two years.  Improving
his swim and bike conditioning is a major plan for this
off-season.  With his passion, heart and determination Nick is
looking forward to making 2008 his breakout year for training
and racing.   He also wants to help make the Brian Loncar
Racing Team the best triathlon team in the area.
