Zach Maggart

Zach Maggart was born in Tripoli Libya to parents in the U.S. Air
Force. As an Air Force brat, Zach moved all over the world
including Tripoli, Washington D.C., Anchorage AK, Marion, IN,
Dayton, OH, and Tehran, Iran, with stops at (too many to list)
ports in between. Zach was not a big multi-sport enthusiast
growing up as he was born with clubbed feet and spent most of
his childhood years either in the hospital or recovering from
surgery. Zach was a reasonably good swimmer in high school
and biked regularly but did not keep athletics in his lifestyle after
collage. At the age of 39, He decided to get fit and swam 3,000
meters a day to lose weight and gain strength. To gain strength
and challenge himself he began biking and ultimately joined the
stamp out Multiple Sclerosis movement and their 150 mile bike
events. Zach has participated in every MS 150 bike event since
2005. Once he was in shape, he trained with Scott Eder to
improve functional movement and swim technique, which
progressed into triathlon interests.
Zach competed in his first Triathlon season in 2007. In the five
competitive events he entered representing The Loncar Racing
Team, he placed 1st & 3rd (in his age group) in two AquaBike
(1/2 iron distance) races and 3rd (in his age group) in his 1st
sprint distance triathlon.
In 2008 Zach was a full-on team member representing Loncar
Racing in eight events. Specializing in the Aqua-Bike venue, he
placed 1st in age at the spring PlayTri race, 1st overall in
Arkadelphia, and 4th Overall (3rd age) in his 1st Iron distance
race at the Redman event in Oklahoma. Zach also participated
in several sprint events in ’08 and found 3rd place (age) success
in two sprints and 2nd place (age) at the Texasman sprint.
Zach’s goal for 2009 is to compete in seven sprint distance
triathlons or ½ Iron Man distance AquaBike races and the full
iron distance Redman Aqua-Bike in OKC
When not training, Zach is in charge of redevelopment
production on a national basis as Vice President with Berkshire
