Justin
Meaders

Justin has been competitive for most of his life. It all started
when he got his first motorcycle on his 5th birthday. He learned
to ride it that day and he was hooked. He lived and breathed
motorcycles and racing until a high speed racing accident left
him paralyzed at the age of 22. After this unfortunate accident
he realized that he was still very competitive. Even in rehab
while learning to use a wheelchair he was trying to do things
faster or more efficiently than anyone else. Once out of the
hospital he knew he didn’t want to sit around and that is when
he discovered handcycle racing. Just 6 months after first seeing a
handcycle Justin entered his first race. The goal was not to finish
last, which he accomplished, and the racing bug was back. A
few years later he started racing wheelchairs and dabbled with
swimming. After much improvement and some good race results
he thought it would be a great idea to put all three of those
sports together and try this thing they call Triathlon. His goals for
the upcoming season will be to improve his swim first of all, get
as many local triathlons in as possible and head to Lubbock for
buffalo springs half ironman in an attempt to qualify for Hawaii.
(If he is able to qualify for Hawaii we will update you with his
goal for that, but if you read the bio I am sure you know what
his goal will be.)
