Steve Mudgett
Steve Mudgett is a former Professional Triathlete, runner and cyclist and has finished the Ironman event 10 times including a 9th place finish in Kona, and 3rd place overall in Canada. Steve grew up playing recreational hockey as a kid in the Chicago area (Northbrook) until his freshman year in High School. Steve then entered into a successful career as a runner in High School (Glenbrook North) and College (Miami of Ohio). After college he competed in several marathons finishing 50th in the 1980 Boston Marathon, before getting into triathlons in 1982. Steve retired from professional competitions in 1991 after his first child was born in Denver.

Steve was the head coach of Plano East JV hockey team the past 2 years. Steve was also the head coach of the Eastside summer Varsity and JV teams in 2005 & 2006. During the 2006/07 season Steve was an assistant coach for the Alliance Midget Minor Prep team that was the Tier II State Champions. In 2005/06 he was an assistant coach for the Alliance Squirt A NTXHL Champions.

His other coaching experience consists of several years as an assistant coach with Alliance Bantam and Pee Wee teams as well as DJHA Pee Wee, Squirt and Mites teams. Steve was an assistant coach for the Alliance Bantam Tier II Texas State Champions in 2004/2005. He holds a USA Hockey Level 4 Coaching Certificate.

Steve has also been a head coach and assistant coach for several levels of roller hockey at Slap Shot. Steve also coached recreational soccer and baseball for his kids teams beginning in 1996. He has also coached several adults to successful finishes in marathons and Ironman events.

Steve's current claim to fame is that of the proud dad of 4 children; Forest 16, Hunter 15, Ashley 14 and Preston 12. They all inspired him to not only get involved with their teams by coaching, but to play hockey again after a 30 year break. Steve got back into triathlons again last summer after a 16 year hiatus
when he coached his oldest son's entire hockey team into doing the Beat the Heat triathlon. So instead of just walking the deck, Steve jumped in the pool to join them. Steve works in the insurance industry in Richardson to pay for his kids hockey expenses.
