Demetra
Mydlo

Demetra was born in Detroit, Michigan, but was raised in a small
Canadian town, Kingsville, Ontario. There Demetra's love for
competition began where she grew up predominantly playing
ice hockey, softball, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. She left
Kingsville to play collegiate basketball in Quincy, IL, but after a
year moved back to the Metro Detroit area to be closer to family.
To fill the void of competition, Demetra began running local 5k
and 10k races. In 2008, Demetra graduated with a bachelor of
Science in Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Studies at Wayne State
University, and bought herself a bike as a reward.
A few months after graduation, Demetra and her husband, Chris
moved to Plano for work. Demetra is a Physical Educator at
Bowman Middle School in Plano and coaches basketball and
volleyball. Demetra competed in her first sprint triathlon, the
Texas Man, last May and quickly became enamored with the
sport. A couple months later she placed 2nd in her age group at
the Anchor Bay Sprint Triathlon in Anchor Bay, Michigan. In
2010, Demetra looks forward to competing in a few sprint races
as well as making her first attempts at the Olympic distance. She
is very excited to be a member of the team!
