Mike Ramsey
Watching the Ironman on TV back in 1982, Mike watched in amazement as Julie
Moss stumbled, fell, and crawled her way to the finish, only to be passed at the last
minute by winner Kathleen McCartney. Seeing her expend every last ounce of her
strength, facing injury and possibly death from the taxing effort, Mike thought to
himself, "I want to do THAT." And so he did.
A world-traveling fashion
model (no, really) at the
time, Mike used
multi-sport training and
events to keep at the top
of that field. He lost count
at 100 triathlons by 1991,
when he opened Sports
Nutrition Source, the first
retail chain of nutrition
stores specializing in
sports nutrition
supplements. When son
Stephen came along in
1992, endurance took on
a whole new meaning.
Mike sold the SNS brand
to a larger competitor in
2003, and continuing to
focus on raising his son, took a technology position with a local public school district. In
addition to the school schedule, Mike enjoys the opportunity to commute to work by
bike as often as possible.
An aspiring writer, Mike has published one book ("Hand Job" ©), and is in the process
of converting it into a screenplay. Success breeds success, and Mike is now preparing his
"Book of Mike-isms" © for publication, and continuing to work on his first novel, a book
of poetry, and a series of short stories. Check out his website www.mikeramsey.net for
