Ironman Ks, 70.3 Triathlon
June 28, 2009
Back in Dallas the day started out hot, in Lawrence, Ks it
was a cool 64 degrees at 6:30 when the first wave of
triathletes hit the water. Over 2000 competitors were on
hand for the second annual Ironman Kansas 70.2.

Lael was caught eating popcorn by a local newspaper
reported during packet pick-up and made the local paper in
an article talking about pre-race nutrition. Click here to read

The bike course was the most challenging aspect of this
race. Lots of rolling hills and the wind started to pick up
during the biking leg. Tyler and Ashley made the drive up as
did Lael and his significate other Terri who teamed up with
former Loncar racer Amy Gully to do a last minute relay.
Terri did the biking leg and Amy did the Swim and Run.

Ashley took top honors in her age group with a first place
4:46, Tyler took 7th with a 4:23 and Lael took 8th in his age
group with a 4:42. Both Ashley and Tyler qualified for the
70.3 Championships in Clearwater, Fl this fall.
Congratulations!
